On this day in 2002, one of the most exceptional batsmen in international cricket, Inzamam-ul-Haq, became the first triple centurion of the 21st century against New Zealand in Lahore. Inzamam went on to score 329 runs against the Kiwis.
He became the second Pakistani batsman to score a triple hundred in Tests. The first-ever triple century for Pakistan in Test cricket was scored by the little master, Hanif Mohammad.
This was also only the 16th triple century in Test cricket. Inzamam-ul-Haq knock of 329 comprised of 38 boundaries and 9 sixes
Pakistan won that test match by an innings and 324 runs, thanks to Shoaib Akhtar’s 6 for 11 in the first innings and Danish Kaneria’s 5 for 110 in the second innings. No surprises, Inzamam-ul-Haq was declared as the Man of The Match.
