As coronavirus is
declared as a global pandemic by World Health Organizations, affecting 185
countries, still there are some countries in which no case of Coronavirus is reported. One of the major countries that are not affected by Coronavirus is
Turkmenistan. Almost the whole world is facing a lockdown, unlikely most of the
world, daily life in Turkmenistan continues as normal. Snack bar and cafeterias
are open. Crowds gather for marriages. Nobody wears masks and mass events are
going ahead.
Experts believe that Government
of Turkmenistan is hiding the truth, which could be devastating in eradicating
the pandemic globally.
The Professor of London
School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, who has studied the Turkmen healthcare the system told that “Official Statistics from Turkmenistan are not trustworthy.
They have claimed zero cases on cases of HIV/Aids for the past decade, which is
not possible for any country ”
In February 2020, Turkmenistan
hospital had posters about the prevention of Coronavirus which were removed
later. Turkmenistan closed their borders in February. In early February Turkmenistan
cancels its flight operation with China and some other countries.
WHO officials told that
they had to trust on figures provided by the Government. Else there is no other option. However, they
are making Turkmenistan Government aware of the disastrous effects of
coronavirus and advising them to get themselves prepare to tackle the virus. He further said that their hospitals are well
equipped, but we had talked to them about procuring ventilators.
We have seen how the Coronavirus
moved rapidly from China to other parts of the world. In this globalized
economy that we now living in, every country is only as secure as the weakest
country in the world.
