Effects of Vaping
7 million
people are dying each year because of smoking. More than 40 million people are
using Vape. 30 countries have banned Vape outright. A deadly disease EVALI
(Electronic Vaping associated Lung Injury) spread over the world because of
Vaping. EVALI cause trouble breathing, respiratory disorders and even sometimes
it is fatal. More than 60 compounds have been found in liquids of vape, including
Propylene glycol which is a respiratory irritant. some chemical can increase
the risk of cancer.
Vaping In Pakistan:
In Pakistan the trend of Electronic cigarette is increasing day by day, 5% of total youth are
indulge in this activity. Our youth needed to be educated about the product. The
retail sale of Vape is allowed in the country and there are no restrictions
on the use and labelling of e-cigarettes, most of the countries have banned it.
In Pakistan, despite reports of
the widespread use of vapes among young people, this issue is yet to be
addressed at a government and community level.
Smoking vs Vaping
According to
research those who started Vaping to quit smoking will eventually go back to
smoking cigarette. In 2018 Food administration reported a 78% increase in the
use of Vape in High schools. In 2018 U.S general reported use of E-Cigarette is
an epidemic among youth.
Research
says that Vaping is not as addictive as smoking cigarettes is. Above the figure of 40
million people who use a vape, most of them are those who do not use it regularly,
there are only a few people who are completely addicted to it. Cigarettes and
Vape both contain the same amount of chemicals, but smoking cigarette cause more
health issues.
A smoker
inhales 7000 chemicals out of which 60 are known to cause cancer directly. Vape
provide nicotine in vapour form which lowers the number of chemicals entering the
body.
