Camel in Sandstorm

Camel is known as Ship of the desert and it is for a reason that Allah had made it in a way it can easily survive drastic conditions of the desert.
In the Quran, Allah says that “Have they not look at the camels that how they are created”.(88:17)
Camels are believed to have some special adaptive features including its hump, feet, long hair, nostrils, and special eyelids, unlike other animals.
Camels are gifted with three eyelids and two layers of eyelashes which aide them in sandstorms. The long eyelashes catch most of the sand and dust during sandstorms allowing them a clear vision for treading the sand dunes.

Normally animals and human have two eyelids, but camel has three eyelids. The third eyelid of the camel is transparent. During the period of sandstorm third eyelid cover the eye of camel, because of its transparency camel can see everything clear with its eyes closed. The third Lid is also called Nictitating membrane. This membrane also helps the camel in moisturizing their eyes and act as a “windshield wiper” to clean off their eye.

Camel’s nose is also designed specially. When sandstorms blow, it closes its nostrils with special lids. The nostrils are also designed to reduce the loss of water through respiration with a unique cooling system and nasal passages that are able to absorb water that passes through them.

                                          SUBHAN ALLAH!
